I just got my pre-op call from the hospital!! 🎉 🎊 They said they would call 3 or 4 days before my surgery. But here they are calling a little over 2 weeks in advance!! The nurse explained that they are running ahead of schedule. I am so excited and thrilled that I got to talk to them already. I got answers to so many questions. 🤩😍

I also got a chance to reconcile my medications and even tell her the times that I take them. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do that in advance and if their system would actually accept that information because it seems like Epic sometimes has a mind of its own.

I am so thrilled!! 🎉
We talked for literally an hour. And I cannot believe how incredibly patient she was. We actually thought we were done and then I happened to mention: oh also I will be bringing with me my iron supplement. And I was about to start listing my other supplements, and she said: oh that should have been part of your medications. And I said I have always had medications mean prescriptions, and then people ask separately about supplements. And once she recovered from the surprise of a pile of extra pills that I was listing, and after I apologized for having forgotten and surprised her with all those things, she did say that she really should have asked about it herself. Which is 100% true. You are always supposed to ask people if they are taking anything over-the-counter, including supplements.

And it’s extra good that I mentioned my supplements because surprise, she said that I need to be off my multi vitamin for 1 week prior to my surgery because multivitamins contain a blood thinner. I’m not actually sure what vitamin or mineral in my multivitamin is a blood thinner and I would really rather not be off my multivitamin, but I will do what I have to do because I certainly don’t want to jeopardize my surgery prognosis.

Hooray!!!

I may edit this post if I think of more exciting things as a result of that call. I just wanted to share my excitement with my blog readers!!!! 💜🌟⭐️

PS: I just looked online.  “In addition, foods rich in vitamin E are natural blood thinners.” [Link]  My multivitamin has 100% of my daily value of vitamin E. So that’s fair to be off of it. I also did not mention taking advil which is a blood thinner as are other NSAIDs. Luckily I have recently gotten off the daily advil and I’m only taking it very sporadically as needed for headaches. So I assume I should be very cautious and try to avoid taking advil for the week prior to the surgery as well.
