One year ago, I had a craniotomy to remove a benign brain tumor called a meningioma. Although it was benign, it was growing at a much faster rate than I was comfortable. So less than 2 years after it was discovered on an MRI, I opted to have it removed.
The MRI in June 2025 measured it at 2.8 cm x 2.7 cm (top-to-bottom and front-to-back). It was 1.5 cm side-to-side (my guess is because there was less room for it to expand between my hemispheres).

I had planned to write a big, special reflection post about my life in the past year. So much has happened. My health has improved a lot. But I still have a lot of health conditions that keep me at home and limit how much I can do around the house, and my movement outside the house.
I’ve met a mind-boggling number of people through social media. And those connections have translated into phone calls and video calls and organizing and community off social media!!
I’ve also been incredibly grateful to reconnect with many friends from the past, and people I knew, but was not yet close to. Several of you are subscribers to this blog and for that I am incredibly grateful.
I know I haven’t been writing much lately. The webinars and books, and meetings I’ve been having with various people and groups, have tapped all of my creative energy.
I’m still working on figuring out how to find balance between my desire to connect and contribute to making the world a more just and loving and caring place, and my own need to recharge myself. That’s life! Always seeking balance.
I will close with an incredibly moving song from Elisapie, an Inuk musician. The song is “Taimangalimaaq” and is a cover of “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper, but translated into Inuktitut!! I heard it on the TV show North of North (a news article about the show).
Here’s a link to the full album, which includes the story of how the album came about. It’s all covers of fantastic songs, translated into Inuktitut.

“Time After Time” appeared on the album She’s So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper. It was the first music album I owned (a cassette)!
